This Candied Pig Loin with Tea is an easy and inexpensive dish to prepare. Serve it with a mixture of green vegetables. You can also add small potatoes to the casserole at the same time as the rest of the tea!
First, here is the list of the different ingredients that you will need to prepare this Candied Pig Loin with Tea with a preparation time of 15 minutes and a cooking time of approximately 2 hours.
- 1 roast pork in the loin weighing 1.2 kg or 2.5 lb
- 2 bags of Earl Gray tea
- 2 red onions, 2 shallots and 4 garlic cloves
- 50 g or 2 Tbsp butter
- Olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
Now, here are the different steps that you will have to follow to make this Candied Pig loin with Tea
Pour 50 cl of simmering water over the tea bags and leave to infuse. Preheat your oven to 175°C or 350°F. Brown the roast in olive oil in an ovenproof casserole dish until it is nicely browned. Add the peeled and chopped shallots and garlic cloves, butter, salt and pepper.
Then, peel the onions and slice them into rings. Cover the meat with it. Add half the tea, cover and put in the oven for 1 hour, basting the meat regularly.
Then add the rest of the tea and cook for another 1 hour on thermostat 150°C or 300°F, basting often. Remove the lid 20 minutes before the end of cooking.
Serve in the casserole dish or on a serving dish with your mixture of green vegetables such as snow peas or coconut beans that you have sautéed in a pan 15 minutes before the end of cooking the meat and… Bon Appétit !
