This Orange cake is one of those homemade desserts that everyone enjoys. It is an exquisite dessert. It is not a pound cake, nor a leavened dough, nor a biscuit, but a pastry with a delicate texture. Ideal for a mid-afternoon break with a cup of tea.
First, here is the list of the different ingredients you will need to prepare the Orange Cake for 8 to 10 people
- 2 juicy oranges
- 250g ground almonds
- 4 very fresh eggs
- 150 g wholemeal sugar or brown sugar
- olive oil
- 100 ml liquid cream
- 100g dark pastry chocolate
Now, here are the few steps you will have to follow to make this Orange Cake with a preparation of 10 minutes and a cooking of 40 minutes + a rest of 2 hours
Rinse the oranges, cook them for one hour in a pot of boiling water. Preheat the oven to 180°C. At the end of this time, cut the cooked oranges in four (do not peel them). Deseed them if necessary then mix them in a blender.
Mix the eggs with the sugar until you obtain a smooth cream. Add the blended oranges and finally the ground almonds.
Oil a 8 inch or 20 cm springform pan. Pour the batter into the mold and bake for about 40 minutes.
Leave the Orange Cake to cool then place it on a serving platter.
Heat the cream in a saucepan until boiling. Add the coarsely chopped chocolate all at once. Mix gently then spread over the cake. Leave to cool for about 2 hours before serving.
